In late 2012, Rodger Fox took his Wellington Jazz Orchestra to record at Capitol Studios in Los Angeles, one of the most iconic studios in the world, and a fitting place to record a big band at the peak of its powers. And what better venue could there be for Rodger to mark 40 years of unwavering commitment to big band jazz.

The Capitol Sessions stands confidently alongside the great Jazz Orchestra albums coming out of America and Europe at this moment. Ultimately, the recording is a testimony to the leadership of Rodger Fox, who, with so many gifted soloists at his disposal, never loses sight of the collective.
