Nga Tae

Nga Tae translates as ”group of many colours”, a perfect name for a group that exemplifies cultural diversity. Nga Tae is made up of Maori and Pakeha musicians, they incorporate both traditional Maori instruments and modern electronica instrumentation, and they use both Te Reo and English in their compositions.

Writing about the group, reviewers have often said (quite rightly) that Nga Tae could only have come from Aotearoa New Zealand, that the music they create resonates with the New Zealand landscape and heritage as well as the contemporary urban experience. It’s a comment that Nga Tae are proud of as it reflects their commitment to active bi-culturalism.
