International award nomination

Our fabulous pianist, Tania Giannouli, has been nominated for the Deutscher Jazz Preis (German Jazz Prize) in the “International Piano & Keyboards” category.

Being nominated for this major international award marks an important moment in Tania’s career, a significant validation from the European jazz community in recognition of her exceptional output over the last ten years, starting with Forest Stories in 2012 (with Portuguese wind player, Paulo Chagas), and continuing with highly acclaimed and critically lauded releases in 2015 (Transcendence, with the Tania Giannouli Ensemble), 2018 (Rewa, with taonga puoro maestro, Rob Thorne, an album that is one of Rattle’s most widely reviewed and critically acclaimed releases of all time), and 2020 (In Fading Light, with oud player Kyriakos Tapakis and trumpet player Andreas Polyzogopoulos, one of our critical triumphs from last year, an album we predict will be one of our most revered).

The award ceremony will take place on 3rd June in the run-up to the Hamburg festival ELBJAZZ, and will be broadcast via live stream (streaming link to follow).
