Brahms Complete Intermezzi

It would be safe to say that Michael Houstoun has been the most well-known and certainly one of the most admired artists in the world of classical music in New Zealand for the past 50 years. Since his return to New Zealand in 1981 after working abroad for some years, Michael has continued to perform a large repertoire that stretches from J.S. Bach to the present day. He is a particularly strong and enthusiastic advocate of New Zealand music, with works from Douglas Lilburn to John Psathas regularly featuring in his programmes and recordings.

The Brahms Intermezzi are among the finest works ever written for solo piano, and it is our great pleasure to release this wonderful album to mark the occasion of Michael’s 70th birthday.
