Unfathomed Waters

Jack Woodbury | Peter Liley

Unfathomed Waters is a collection of collaborative works by Peter Liley and Jack Woodbury. Composed between 2020 and 2022, the album draws inspiration from H.P. Lovecraft’s short story The Temple.

Compositionally, the pieces employ ambient textures, electroacoustic noise, saxophone, choral vocals, and glitches. At times calm, at others tense and agitated, these materials are woven together to explore The Temple’s themes of isolation, longing, awe, and fear. Ultimately, this music seeks to capture a sense of the story’s wonder alongside its lurking horror.
