Cathedral
Jonathan Besser | Greg Fox
Released: 08 June 2020
Catalogue: RAT-D098
An improvised live concert featuring Jonathan Besser (St Paul's Cathedral pipe organ) and Greg Fox (electric guitar and treatments), originally performed and recorded in 1984, here presented in a newly edit, mixed and mastered version with an accompanying 10-minute additional track fashioned from the original recordings by Steve Garden called "Ruins (2084)".
Cathedral is one of four inaugural releases to mark the launch of a new imprint, Rattle Echo. This new label will present New Zealand art-music recordings from the past that have either never been commercially released or made available digitally, or that simply deserve to be more widely known. These releases will, at the very least, be remastered, but where possible the recordings will be remixed, and in some cases reworked to produce similar but modified or updated versions of the original recordings.
The three other inaugural Rattle Echo releases are:
FRAGMENTS - Matthew Marshall
TROUBLE SPOTS - Ivan Zagni & Steve Garden
FREE RADICALS - Ross Harris & Jonathan Besser
