Between Darkness and Light

In 2011, Michael Houstoun, Jenny Wollerman and director of the Wanaka Festival, Philip Tremewan, met to discuss a programme of music for soprano and piano for the 2013 festival. Between Darkness and Light was the acclaimed result.

In January 2014, Rattle brought Jenny and Michael together with producer Kenneth Young and recording engineer Steve Garden to record this celebration of 19th and 20th century art-song from two of our finest classical artists.

Featuring compositions by Gabriel Fauré, Samuel Barber, Richard Strauss, André Previn, Sergei Prokofiev, Hugo Wolf, Johannes Brahms, Sergei Rachmaninov, Ralph Vaughan Williams, and Claude Debussy.
