Here's one for the adventurous listener, an uncompromising work that takes no prisoners!
Conceptually a "guys" album (no woman would come up with titles like these), Dave Lisik takes center stage on his final release for 2011, a fascinating work composed by New York-based new music and electro-acoustic composer, Jorge Sosa. Dave's trumpet playing lends Enceladus a distinct jazz character, but the fundamental nature of the work is resolutely genre-defying.
This masterful, beautifully produced work is wholly contemporary and fearlessly forward-looking. Like all of Dave Lisik and Jorge Sosa's albums, Enceladus will reward the active, fully engaged listener. At times the music is reminiscent of late period Weather Report and/or Miles Davis, albeit interpreted by someone from, well, one of Saturn’s moons!
