Ring Round the Moon

David Farquhar

Originally curated by Jack Body for the commemorative concert ‘Remembering David’, Ring Round the Moon is an album of chamber music celebrating the artistry and memory of New Zealand composer, David Farquhar.

From 1950 onwards, David Farquhar was at the forefront of contemporary New Zealand composition. His influence on subsequent composers (both as a writer and educator) was far-reaching and substantial. Ring Round the Moon testifies to David's meticulous craft and precision, but also his exceptional artistry. As Ross Harris put it in the liner notes, "David's music has the virtues of all great classical art – simple lines, clarity of expression, and beauty. His music stands as an important cultural monument in this country."
