The final instalment of Phil Broadhurst’s ‘dedication trilogy’, Panacea is a beautifully realised selection of new works for jazz quintet penned by one of New Zealand’s most highly regarded jazz masters.

The compositions on this recording spring from the often-unconscious influences that form the building blocks of a composition. Phil Broadhust says that these derive not only from the wide jazz landscape explored in his radio programme The Art of Jazz, but also from experiences that arise from playing and teaching. The album is an homage to a number of Phil’s fellow composers and performers who have passed away in recent years.
